Standing in the shadow of York Minster is the ancient Guy Fawkes Inn.

The notorious plotter intent on blowing up the Houses of Parliament on November 5th 1605 was born here, and today the Inn that bears his name is the finest in the city and one of the best preserved in the country.

With gas lighting, timber floors, roaring log fires, huge settles, traditional ales served from barrels behind the bar, this atmospheric and mysterious Inn is a treasure to behold.

You can stay overnight here too. With thirteen beautiful hotel bedrooms including the stunning Belfry Suite, Guy Fawkes Inn is a place lost in time to which you will wish to return time and again.

We are also home to the world famous Guy Fawkes Ghost Walk which leaves from outside the Inn at 8p.m. every evening and takes you through the streets of York with a master story teller at the helm. The only ghost walk in York that ventures inside the city’s haunted buildings will leave you with a chill of excitement running down your spine.
